Frequently Asked Questions (Agriculture)

A: Modern agriculture is not difficult. You can study the behaviors of the plants before starting. For the necessity of using a chemical, it depends on the amount of planting. If you plant home-gown vegetables, it is recommended to provide natural care with organic fertilizers, getting rid of insects and diseases by picking off leaves or hand-holding. If you have some capital, you can plant greenhouse-grown vegetables. But if you plant in a large space for economic crops, it is recommended to nourish with chemical fertilizers (fertilizer mixed with “UONIX” will help to maintain soil better in the long period and reduce the loss of fertilizers from sticking into soil, so you do not have to put too much chemical fertilizer). For the use of chemicals in pest control, each product should be instructed on what type of pests, how many pests it is used for, and how much should be sprayed before harvest (PHI) to be safe for consumers and users. Learn more on the website or your sponsor.

A: In agriculture, hot agent is any substances preventing diseases, insects, pests, or weeds, that can cause the plants to become toxic, such as burning, flowers falling out, rough surface, flower petal burning, dead growth. Cold agent is any substance that is not harmful to plants, especially the time when plants are putting forth leave-buds and forth scion, and fruit setting. Unilife products can be used according to the instructions on a product label, plant techniques, or the website providing knowledge for specific plants.

A : Pre-harvest interval (PHI) is the time from the last pesticide spray to the harvest date or the break of pesticide spraying prior to harvest as some chemicals contain a long-lasting property, resulting in residues remaining in the plants long after spraying causing harms to the consumer, so farmers should not spray during the near-harvest period. If chemical spraying is required, use agents which decompose quickly. However, it depends on the type of chemical used and types of plants. For example, it is best to stop spraying the “countdown” before harvesting chili for 7 days (PHI = 7 days). Therefore, what farmers should do is to follow the instructions on the label regarding to the time period between the last spray prior to harvest and do not harvest the crops within the recommended period. Please leave the crops as specified on the label (see additional product guideline).

A: The steps of proper mixing of agents are as below:
1. Select rain water (not hard water).
2. Pour water into 2/3 of the tank (15-18 liters).
3. Pour soluble concentrates (SL) first, and then mix them together.
4. Pour emulsifiable concentrates (EC) and then mix them together.
5. Pour the wettable powder (WP) and then mix them together.
6. Add fertilizer and other nutrients, then mix together.
7. Add the additive “Cover” last.
8. Add more water to reach 20 liters and spray again.

A : Each pesticide has specific abilities to eliminate insects and moderately gets rid of other insects, so there is a low-high recommendation. In case of low protection, use it in a low rate. However, in the case of severe outbreaks, use it in high rates and do not use more than two substances combined at low rates to eliminate them. because it actually causes the problem of resistance to both substances. You should use any type of high rate first and see if the insects still spread out. Then, you may use the second substance which should be different from the first substance to prevent future resistance.

A : We do not recommend it. Repeat of spraying leaves may cause excessive concentration resulting in burning. Do not pour the remaining substance into the water because some pests are toxic to fish. The remaining should be sprayed to the same plant or areas which are not sprayed.

A : First, you have to know what the neighbors use to spray. If it is atrazine or ametryn and bit blows on the pepper plants, you can check the roots and leaves if they are destroyed. If they are slightly damaged, this can be solved by injecting SEEVIEW NEO-MINOR UNIFOS-N COVER into the peppers 1-2 times to help them recover to produce.

A : We do not recommend it. It is recommended to pour 200 liters of water into the tank and use alum to stir sediment to fall down to the bottom of the tank, then use clear water to mix with “BURN UP48”. It will be fully effective by killing grass to the root according to the substance property.
